Lowitja Institute: Australia’s national institute for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health research – Abigail Bray

The Lowitja Institute has a strong international presence at the cutting edge of Indigenous health research. The Institute commissioned a substantial 41 page research document on Indigenous methodologies which resulted in Aboriginal Participatory Action Research: An Indigenous Research Methodology Strengthening Social and Emotional Wellbeing and Decolonisation. The document presents a critical synthesis of literature on international Indigenous health research methodologies, knowledge systems and guiding principles and practices, and has been cited in a number of significant international journals.
